The Order Of Jabez

"Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called him Jabez, saying, 'Because I bore him in pain.' And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 'Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your Hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!' So God granted him what he requested."

This passage of scripture is probably one of the most profound nuggets that the bible has to offer. Though the whole Word is beneficial, we sometimes overlook the little jewels such as this one. Jabez was marked as one who caused pain. His mother spoke this identity into him. Somehow, Jabez got to a point in his life where this name was no longer suitable for him to continue to live under. He knew there was something better inside of him than what his name indicated. Jabez also knew that if he was going to have such a profound change of identity, he was going to have to have someone greater than himself get the job done. So Jabez called on the Name of The Lord. He asked God to enlarge his territory, so that God’s hand would be with him. He asked God to keep him from evil, so that he may not cause pain! He was absolutely emphatic about his desire to change his identity from one whom, every time you said his name, reminded you of a place of pain, to someone who brought joy and peace. He wanted God to take the pain out of his name!

The names of our young men in today's society need to no longer be synonymous with causing pain. It is time to change their names. It is time to speak a new identity into their existences. No longer should we look at any of our young men as having no redemptive value. Until God directs us to give up on them, and leave them at the mercy of the enemy, then we should pray the prayer of Jabez and ask God to allow these young men to not cause pain.

The Order Of Jabez is a local holistic program designed to change the course of a young wayward life from the inside out, and construct, if need be, a new man, from the ground up. Using the scripture reference above, the program is the model of changing the way we see our young men around the country. The Order Of Jabez has one motto- NO MORE PAIN! The young men who are a part of their local chapter will rise up in their communities and proclaim, "No more pain caused by me in my community, in my home, in my school, in the lives that I touch, and in the lives that I am called to help."
